2012 US Open

2012 US Open

Taekwondo Australia recently sent a team of 70 athletes to contest the US Open in Las Vegas. The competition went for 4 days from 21-25 February and included both sport taekwondo and poomsae. Athletes gathered from around the world to compete in this event, including 30 athletes from various countries that will be competing at the 2012 Olyimpics in London.

The Australian Team produced excellent results, culminating in 1 gold, 5 silver, 3 bronze medals. ACT Taekwondo’s very own Belinda Luff won a bronze medal for the Junior Female 59-63kg division, and we would like to congratulate her for her marvelous effort at the event.

Team Managers reported that it was great to see all athletes from Taekwondo Australia assisting each other and cheering for each other with Poomsae and Sparring athletes supporting one another across the competition. Their efforts and conduct were recognised by the organising committee resulting in the Australian Team being awarded the Sportsmanship Award. ACT Taekwondo congratulates all team members on an outstanding team effort.
